Two weeks ago, we decided to take a road trip to Canada. Since we are only few hours away from the Canadian border, we decided to use this opportunity and visited Montreal and Quebec City.

Quebec City,Chateau Frontenac , travel to Canada
Chateau Frontenac __ holds a Guinness World Record of "the most photographed hotel in the world"

Once we got to Montreal, we stopped by downtown Montreal to see Barbi Expo first. It's a free exhibit in one of the upscale malls in Montreal that is the largest permanent exhibit of Barbie dolls in the world.

It was absolutely amazing experience __ there were over thousand barbies __ from entertainment industry barbies to movie characters and personalities to fashionista barbies,  dressed by leading fashion houses, including Burberry, Prada, Balenciaga and also, barbies dressed in different national costumes from all over the world. (If you follow me on Instagram you should have seen it in my InstaStories.)
After that, we went to The Westin Montreal __ luxurious hote, located in Old Montreal.

Unfortunately, the hotel didn't impress us, to say the least. When we got to our room, you could see stains all over the floor and the bed sheets were covering the mattrass only half way__ something that you never expect from the hotel that charges you more than $300 a night (?!). In the end, they offered us a new room, cleaner than first room, but overall, it was not the hotel that would ever make us want to visit Westin hotels  again, unless it's Westin Rome in Rome, Italy, that we stayed in, two years ago, and it was so spectacular, we just didn't want to leave.

Anyways, moving to a different, cleaner room took some extra time so by the time we were ready to explore Montreal, it was already late evening. We strolled down the street towards Place D'Armes and Notre-Dame Basilica, in Old Montreal, and at that point, all we wanted was to find a place where we could have dinner.
Near Notre-Dame Basilica, we found a cute Italian restaurant where we had nice dinner and after getting some coffee, (and dessert for my daughter,) we were ready to go back to hotel and rest.

Next morning, after a quick breakfast at the hotel, we drove to Quebec City and spent all day there.

It was very charming and beautiful. Even though it rained couple of times while were there, it didn't ruin our mood, eating some gelato in cafe and getting some souvenirs must have helped us not to worry about rain, haha.

We visited  a few must-see places that I am going to write about in a different post, but for now, let me tell you that Quebec City was so amazing, we decided to go back next summer and stay longer.
Late night, we drove back to Montreal and went straight to the hotel.
Next morning, after quick breakfast, we drove around the city, took some pictures, ate lunch and left Montreal.

After 4-hour of driving, on the way we stopped by cute small town in New York state and found the small charming place to have early dinner.
